Boy… and We Thought Schools Were Strict in Our Day

Wed, Nov 26, 2008 (Funny)

My friends and I used to get a kick out of passing notes, throwing spitballs, and crafting masterful paper airplanes to sail at the back of the teacher’s head. Worst case scenario, we missed a recess if we got caught, but it was oh so worthwhile.

In the age of school shootings and stabbings and drug dealings and whatever those crazy youths are doing these days, it’s good to know those old kid pranksters are still up to their dirty tricks – and that the administration is cracking down hard.

Three cheers for the educational system’s crime and punishment ratio! I _love_ how seriously the AP reports this story, like it’s a True Crime log.

From the AP:

“Passing Gas” Gets Student Arrested

A student at a Florida school has been arrested after authorities say he was “passing gas” and turned off his classmates’ computers.

According to a report released Friday by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the 13-year-old boy “continually disrupted his classroom environment” by intentionally breaking wind. He then shut off some computers other students were using.

The Spectrum Junior-Senior High School was arrested Nov. 4.

A school resource officer placed the boy under arrest after he confessed about his behavior, according to the report. He was charged with disruption of school function and released to his mother.
