Thanks to Marc Chung for renewing my faith in all things Christian Bale.
You inevitably read about his huge freak-out on the set of Terminator 4 at the director of photography (DP), Shane Hurlbut, for fucking with the lights during the filming of a scene… what you didn’t know is that apparently the DP is a complete tweaker jackass that lots of people hate and it’s not the first scene he’s screwed up before.
As it turns out AICN got the inside scoop on what happened, and it more or less made me wish Bale had beaten the life out of the DP, more specifically:
The DP on TERMINATOR SALVATION, Shane Hurlbut, is a apparently a light tweaker. He’s a fairly young DP and likes to fiddle with his lights on set during action, which is a big “NO NO” on most productions unless worked out in advance with performers. But apparently Shane was a pretty unrepentant light tweaker.
The scene in question, was a very emotional and tough scene between Christian Bale and Bryce Howard. A scene that required soul bearing and a deep level of immersive concentration. The sort of scene where everyone on set knows not to get in anyone’s eye lines, and definitely not to move lights around while FILMING. You lock that shit down before the scene starts.
so… Bale is back on the top of our list of badasses we love. Thanks AICN!

I’m glad that the author of this post has decided that two wrongs now make a right. Christian Bale was still not justified in his actions no matter how incompetent this other guy was.

I figure we all act like someone else every day at work dont we? we all deal with coworkers that may not get it when they fuck up a project or get to you right? we get fired for acting a douche in that 8 hour scene with the same coworker who bothers you every day but we all seem to manage not turning into a 3 year old. I mean I could see it a little more if it was something like cancer research or saving the world but even then you can still act your age. I guess he will have time to grow up while out of work rebuilding his public image for the next few years
