Up My Own Ass

Okay, so check this shit out…members of the American Olympic cycling team have now been called to task over their collective decision to wear protective masks to shield their lungs from China’s notoriously bad air pollution. This has been taken as a move so politically charged, that the cyclists have even written an apology letter to the Chinese Olympic committee for offending their apparent delicate sensibilities.

I am so throwing down the bullshit flag on this one.

China is admittedly filthy. Their own citizens wear masks to keep from inhaling the thick smear of pollutants that is churned out on a daily basis from every smokestack and exhaust pipe. They aren’t exactly “cutting edge” when it comes to environmental quality, so what is the big deal?

There is no political upheaval here…just a few athletes trying to keep their lungs in tip top shape for the most important physical challenge of their lives.

Why in hell does everything have to be about Americans offending everyone? Did China issue an apology to us for filling our children’s toy boxes with dangerously high levels of lead – so much so that enormous amounts of toys had to be recalled? I don’t recall getting that apology letter in the mail when I was carrying all those toys to the dumpster.

Put down the fucking OPIUM PIPE, PEOPLE! Get over it, quit your G-damn whining, and enjoy the tens of millions of dollars the Olympic Games are pumping into your economy. May I suggest using some of that windfall to clean up your damn city…
